Marcelle Brighten Your Eye's Collection

Today while running errands I stumbled upon a display for Marcelle's Brighten Your Eye's Collection. I found 4 amazing metallic liners (pictured above) that are some of the most interesting finishes I have seen in a while! They were beyond pure metallic with a finish that glistened like jewels when I tested them. There are also glitter liners available in this line as well!

I also found the best palette (pictured above) this picture doesn't do it justice I don't think as when I swatched the colours they were deep and luxurious! The picture that I took in store didn't do this palette justice either so it is one you need to see in person!

My Favourite Eyeshadow JOE Fresh in Peacock!

I tend to find a new favourite eyeshadow every few days but the shade peacock from JOE Fresh has been my go to for a fun pop of colour for weeks now! I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it in the store and could not resist it. This is a matte colour that is so pigmented I can't even believe it for $4!

For those of you who have never tried JOE Fresh products they are available at the Great Canadian Superstore chain in Canada. If you are from another part of the world I would definitely include some of these on your wish-list for your next Canadian makeup swap!

Right now JOE is selling much of it's spring colour shadows for only $2.04 so of course I picked them all up so I could give them a try! I will keep you posted on if I find a new favourite in the bunch!!

Vasanti Cosmetics Spring 2010 Collection

I was so lucky to be sent a selection from Canadian cosmetic company Vasanti to try a few weeks ago. These were items from the Spring 2010 collection and I was so impressed with the colours when they arrived. I was sent an eye shadow palette in The Hamptons, a cheek colour in Swiss Alps and two lipstick shades Sweden and Denmark

The shadow palette was the first thing that I decided to play with once I opened the box. The Hamptons includes 5 colours; Soft Neutral Beige, Soft Peachy Pink, Neutral Deep Brow,.Periwinkle Grey and Intense Rich Navy. All the shades have a soft shimmer to them that is very subtle not overpowering. I think this is a great palette for those who like natural shades but like to punch it up now and then with the addition of the navy blue. To me this palette also screamed bridal, so it would be a great one for brides who will be taking on the task of doing their own makeup, especially those destination brides!

The cheek colour was the next item I started to test out. Swiss Alps is a said on the website to be a plum but to me in person it was a warm pink with a very nice glow to it. I think this is a great spring blush as it gives a great highlight to the cheek and will compliment the skin as it begins to get a little more sun. the texture was very nice and a little goes a long way so be sure to use a gentle hand when applying.

The two lipsticks were the last thing I tested as I really am a lipgloss girl most days! First on was Sweden as I am a sucker for a soft beige pink. Again when I tried this one I immediately thought bridal. It would look beautiful on so many skin tones and would come off great in photos. This one is very much my style and I think on those lipstick says I will get a lot of use out of this shade! Next was Denmark a rich cranberry shade. Now this one put me a little out of my comfort zone, I love reds, but often do not wear deep pinks as I feel they just don't suit me. I did however use this colour on a client with a darker tone to her skin and I absolutely  loved it! This colour was amazing on her skin tone and it finished her makeup look beautifully. Both lipsticks had a great creamy formula that was rich and moisturizing that I very much enjoyed using.

I very much enjoyed trying these products for the first time, and thought quality of everything I tried was wonderful. I look forward to trying more Vasanti products in the future!

Annabelle Custom Quads Spring Colour Additions

Spring is on it's way so this month Annabelle is launching the 4 new Spring shades to the Custom Quad line, Toxic Garden, Helium, Nymphet and Pinked. These four colours make me think of Easter right away, but are still sophisticated colours for women of all ages.

Toxic Garden is a sheer muted green with a gold metallic sheen to it great for a funky highlight to the eye. Helium is a light nude pink shade with a lot of pink shimmer to it. Nymphet is a minty green colour with a blue reflect to it, this one may be my favourite addition for the Spring. Last but not least is Pinked, a bright pink with a more subtle golden sparkle to it. Pinked can look a little chalky but works great with a good base and a patting application instead of a windshield wiper type motion!

Don't miss out on these great additions the Custom Quad line as with all seasonal colours, they won't be available for long!

Say Goodbye to These Annabelle Colours!!

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I love the Custom Quad colours from Annabelle! I own pretty much the whole collection! Every season there are temporary colours added to the line. With the coming of Spring this means we have to say goodbye 4 Quad colours, B-Ray,Vivid Violet, Graffiti and Chlorine .

B-Ray is a matte navy blue that I think is a great option for a modern smokey eye. Vivid Violet is a very sheer purple with a gold shimmer. Graffiti is an ultra shimmer dark grey that should be a staple in every collection. Last but not least is Chlorine, which is a very sheer almost metallic olive green. I have included a picture for you all, but my flash has made all the colours lighter then they truly are!

If any of these colours are a favourite, be sure to run and and get them while you can! These colours are currently being phased out of stores to make room for some exciting colours coming in March (post on the new colours coming soon) so don't wait!

Maybelline Eye Studio in Sinful Sinnamon

I recently decided to pick up Maybelline Eye Studio duo in Sinful Sinnamon as I really felt that Maybelline was trying to do a dupe of MAC's Mineralize eye shadow duo and I just had to try it out. Now this statement did not come from Maybelline, but one look and you see many similarities in appearance.

This duo has a brownish burgundy on one side and a marbleized combo of pinks on the other. I am going to review one colour at a time to make it a little easier. The burgundy side has a high pearl to it much like many other mineral shadows. The texture was very soft, almost creamy and was very easy to apply. This colour looks great on people with green eye's but the shade has enough brown in it to look great on other eye colours as well. I found it made my eye's look a little irritated unless I used a black liner to break up the line between the shadow and my eye but my eyes look red very easily. Overall this colour wore very well and it definitely has found a place in m makeup bag.

The marbleized side was a different story. I found this shadow to be extremely crumbly and un-smooth to try and pick up on the brush. When I applied it to the eye I did not see a pink only a sparkly mess that did not stay on my eye at all but did seem to land on the rest of my face. I can't seem to find any use for this colour and wish it wasn't even there to crumble and make a mess.

Overall I did like the deeper shade and I did like it enough to eventually try some the other shades in the line. As with all new products, hopefully the next generation will fix the pitfalls that this product had.

I can't say that the same problem with the marbleized side would be true with all of the colours available! If you have tried this product out let me know what you think! Did you have a better result with the marbleized side then I did??

Beautylicious Cosmetics A Review

Beautylicious Cosmetics is a mineral cosmetic company from Canada. Jessica began her company from home in early 2009 and her loyal Youtube clientele is growing quickly. Jessica was kind enough to send me a few shadows to try so keep reading to hear what i think about this Canadian mineral makeup company.

I must say in the past I haven't been impressed with mineral shadow's, I often find them under-pigmented giving washes of colour. This cannot be said for Beautylicious Cosmetics, these shadow's are highly pigmented giving amazing colour payoff without having to use a lot of product. There is not a selection of matte shades as of yet so these are shimmer, but the shimmer is well done and not 'sparkly'. For myself I love using these shadows in combination with matte shadows to created looks with depth and shimmer.

I think the stars of this line are Jessica's bright colours, to me this is what she does best. Pure bright uncompromising colours that create a punch for any look you are creating. Shades such as sorbet and peacock have quickly become some of my favorites in the line.

The price of these shadow's is great as well at $6 for one or $20 for 4. She also offers collections at varying price points. Each jar contains 2.5 grams of product for you to enjoy!

Sleek Cosmetics Palette and Gel Liner Review

I received my Sleek cosmetics a few weeks back and I can't tell you how much fun I have had playing with the colours. I only wish that these products were available to those of us in Canada. I hope that when Sleek expands a little more they will offer international shipping so that I don't have to have friends mail me products! 

I received 3 palettes in this order. I am not going to give palette specific reviews but instead give my opinion on the general quality of the mineral shadows. I could not believe the quality and colour payoff of these little shadow's. I only had to use a little product to get an intense colour payoff that lasted all day. Most of the shadows are extremely shimmery but a couple of the palettes offer matte shades which I really liked for the crease. I personally feel that for myself shimmery shadow does not look as good in the crease as it once did... if you know what I mean!! LOL

The colour selection was something else that I was greatly impressed by. Rich metallics, intense brights and subtle shimmers. Neutrals are also done very well and placed perfectly in each palette. I really did find these colour selections very well done so each look could be done from one palette alone or mixed and matched for amazing looks! The only con is the fallout, which is something that many mineral shadow's have. Keeping your foundation for after shadow application is an easy way to fix that problem, cleaning up fallout and leaving a flawless look!

Next are the gel liners and all I can say is YEAH! Amazing colours that can be used as bases under shadow or the intended purpose as liners! LOL I received an orange, yellow, white and black. I use them almost everyday and love the creamy texture that is still sticky enough to last the day and stay put!

If you are in the UK or can just get your hands on some of these great products don't wait. I only wish we could get such amazing little palettes here for the price. Canadian these are only around $9, which is a deal that cannot be beat!!

Pure Anada Mineral Makeup

I have been using Pure Anada for over a year now and love several products that I wanted to share with you. Pure Anada is a Canadian makeup company who sell mostly though distributors as well as online.  Their blushes along with several eyeshadow shades and mineral veil have become staples in my kit through out the past year.

At first I wasn't sure about the veil as it seemed very dark compared to my skin; however it soon became one of my favorite bronzer shades for the winter. It's golden hue and wonderful luminescence gave me a wonderful glow during the winter months. They do carry bronzers but I find the veil just perfect for my skin tone when I am not tanned!

Their blushes come in a wide variety of shades but my favorites from the ones I have tried are Raspberry Parfait and Spring. Spring is a great brown peach tone that goes on so smoothly and gives a hint of colour perfect for paler skin tones! Raspberry Parfait is a great deep pink shade that still looks like a natural glow. It is great for deeper skin tones but still can be used the lighter skin toned gals with out looking too dark!

For the eye's have one shade that stand out from all the one's that I have tried and that is Gold Dust! It is the perfect shade in my opinion for the brow bone. It gives a great highlight and shimmer that finishes off any look that you are wearing. I use it almost everyday and love how it lifts the eye and accentuates the shape of the brow as well.

So there you have it my favorite products from this line! I know they have come out with new shades and products since my last order so check them out to see what they have to offer!!

Received my Sleek Cosmetics Today WooHoo

I am SOOO exited today because I received a package in the mail that had all of my new Sleek cosmetics! The colours of the palettes and liners are GORGEOUS!! I can't wait to get a chance to play with the stuff, so much product for what you pay for!!! I will be posting a lot of looks with these great colours in the coming weeks for sure!! 

NOTHING was broken which I am grateful for! I was worried after hearing how delicate these items are! A full review will be coming soon so stay tuned for that!

Rimmel Stir It Up Product Review

I just saw this product on promotion while out shopping and it reminded me how much I do not like  it. So I decided to come home and write a review so I can stop everyone who is thinking of trying this product from doing so!

Stir It Up is a cream shadow from Rimmel with a splattering of powder shadow on top (totally pointless in my opinion as it is gone after the first 2 or 3 uses).  I'm glad that I never actually bought this shadow, it was given to me while doing some work for Rimmel.

In my first attempt to wear it I tried it on it's own as a wash of colour on my lid. It does go on very smoothly with almost a silicone type texture, and gives a nice shimmer with a metallic type of sheen. After about 5 min the shadow was already creasing terribly to the point that it would not be smoothed back over the lid and only wiped off when I tried to fix the mess it had become.

My second attempt at saving this already free to me product was to use it as a base for other shadows. I had high hopes for this use but again I was disappointed. I created this awesome purple look and as I really do love the colour of the Stir It Up I really liked what it did for this look. After only an hour the whole look started falling apart creasing badly and almost melting off the eye. I only wish I had a picture to show you what happened. I am so glad it was a test and I wasn't actually wearing this look out!

This product is a total waste and it is a shame because they had the colours so right but not texture and staying power. As well I feel that the spackle of colour over the top looks so nice and it is such a disappointment when you realize that it is only a surface decoration not really a part of the shadow.

Save your money on this one, if you want a great and inexpensive shadow base use NYX jumbo eye pencil!

NYX Eyeshadow Haul

So I've been wanting to buy NYX products for quite a while now but they are a little hard to get in Canada! Most YouTube guru's use them and find they are comparable to MAC so I just wanted to try them out. Shoppers carried them one year at Christmas time but decided not to carry the line. I was so exited when I went on their site and found out the Rexall in Peterobrough carries the line in store. I rushed off and purchased several of their trio's to try out.

Well I love them!!! I have been using them almost every day for about two weeks now and the colour payoff is amazing! As well the colours do not crease and stay vibrant all day when using proper primers!! As well they have colour selection that most brands just don't carry! Oranges. yellows blues etc that will 'knock your socks off' so to speak. They also carry a wide selection of natural shades as well for the more subdued makeup junkie!! A trio sells for $10 and pot size is quite big. If you go for the singles ( I bought a few of those as well) they go for $7 and give a really good sized pot of shadow that will last quite a while even with everyday wear! I only wish that the singles were round instead of square so that I could use my palettes for storage :(

Annabelle's Custom Quads

I just purchased a few of Annabelle's custom quad colours and just wanted to pass along my experience with them. I have always loved Annabelle's shadows for their shade selection and colour payoff, and I wasn't disappointed by this new offering from Annabelle!!

The colour selection is wonderful as they have included many more viberant shades then ever before. This colour selection to me is much more along the lines of MAC then a normal drugstore brand. The colour payoff is even better then normal on most of the shades although I was disappointed in a couple of the shades for viberancy!

The bronze and gold shades are some of the best that I have seen in a while from any company and their blues and green's are shades that would look great on almost everyone!

I like that you can pick your colours and put them in your own quad as usually with quad selections there are always one or two shades that you never seem to use!

I really hope that Annabelle keeps this line for a long time to come! I have half of the colours so far and will be out get the remaining shades soon!
